Gastroscopy
The purpose of gastroscopy is to diagnose, evaluate and in some instances treat conditions of the upper digestive organs. By visualising the digestive tract with an endoscope, we can identify abnormalities and perform treatments as needed.
How is this procedure performed?
During a gastroscopy, a flexible tube with a camera is inserted through the mouth to check the oesophagus, stomach, and upper small intestine.
The gastroscopy procedure is typically quick, usually taking less than 10 minutes to complete. To ensure your comfort throughout the procedure, sedation is used. This helps you relax and minimises any discomfort you may experience.
